International Institute of St. Louis - Small Business

Provides a wide variety of services to linguistically and culturally disadvantaged business owners; including business loans for immigrants and refugees, a Credit builder Loan, among other services.


Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the International Institute Campus is not open to the public. Staff are working remotely but are still available to help. Please call us at 314-773-9090 between 8:30am and 4:30pm for assistance. 

The International Institute of St. Louis- Small Business Division provides a wide variety of services to more than 1,000 newcomers annually. Services are specialized for immigrants and refugees who are linguistically and culturally disadvantaged business owners. The International Institute of St. Louis provides access to Individual Development Accounts, microloans for immigrants and refugees, operates a peer lending program for low income immigrant women, and provides access to loans to help build credit for newcomers. The International Institute of St. Louis can also assist immigrant or refugee business owners with developing a business plan and financial statement for their businesses.

In addition, the International Institute of St. Louis also offers free tax preparation services to anyone interested during the tax season. 

In the fall of 2017, the International Institute of Saint Louis Economic Development Department partnered with the Social Work department to create a financial literacy class for single female refugees. The class included courses on banking, budgeting, and building credit.
