Francis Institute for Child and Youth Development

The Francis Institute for Child and Youth Development is a Professional Development Institute creating a high quality adult workforce for the care and education of children and youth from birth to 21 years of age.


The Francis Institute for Child and Youth Development offers coaching, education, technical assistance and training including:

  • Developing Your Family Child Care Business™ course for individuals wanting to start or evaluate their current business. Through user-friendly materials and knowledgeable instructors, participants cover key strategies regarding the demands of entrepreneurship and identify skills needed to build sustainable businesses.
  • Strengths-Based Coaching® is a practical and systematic approach to support change and the way individuals support others to achieve and sustain quality improvements in care and education. It is designed to build on the strengths, knowledge and skills of technical assistance professionals and leaders who work with early childhood, school-age, and youth programs.
  • Professional Development for Afterschool/Youth Workers Training supports leaders in orienting and training youth workers in best practices for out-of-school time.  This series of self-paced modules allows individuals to prepare for the Youth Development Credential as they gain valuable skills to provide a quality program.
  • Additional, trainings include facilitation opportunities for technical assistance or professional development specialists and on-line courses.
