The mission of SCORE is to provide resources and expertise to maximize the success of existing and emerging small businesses.

SCORE’s core purpose is to strengthen small business, strengthen local communities and strengthen America by supporting our proud heritage of entrepreneurs seeking opportunities and building success.

In periods of economic strength and during turbulent times, SCORE serves as a network of trusted mentors to help entrepreneurs solve problems and create companies and jobs.

Founded in 1964, SCORE is made up of real-world professionals with time-tested knowledge who donate thousands of hours to help businesses succeed. The Southwest Missouri chapter is comprised of 30 volunteers who provide guidance and mentoring to business owners in the southwestern Missouri region. These Mentors provide free and confidential business counseling tailored to meet the needs of the business and the owner’s objectives. The Springfield chapter includes counselors who have expertise in a broad range of areas, including restaurants, accounting, legal and engineering. One counselor focuses on buying and selling companies and offers periodic workshops on the topic.
