About

The Mid-America Regional Council is a nonprofit association of county and city governments and metropolitan planning organization for the bistate Kansas City region. Governed by a board of local elected officials, MARC serves nine counties and 119 cities. MARC provides a forum for the region to work together on a wide range of issues, including transportation, environment, land use, healthy communities, early education, emergency services and workforce development.

MARC’s Research Services department prepares and distributes many reports and research data on demographics, businesses and employment, and economic analyses and forecasts for the Kansas City metropolitan area. A number of data sets are available free at metrodataline.org. Charges for specific reports not available on the website vary by complexity. Maps and aerial photographs are also available.

MARC’s workforce development initiatives include GradForce KC, a regional talent development strategy to ensure the region has a highly qualified workforce; it includes KC Degrees, which supports adults to return and finish college and Gateways KC, which is focused on retaining talent from local universities, particularly STEM majors. MARC also compiles extensive workforce data and reports available at kcworkforce.com.
