The department works toward the following objectives:
- Maintain consumer confidence by monitoring financial industries and business professionals
- Protect public interest by establishing coherent and evolving policies
- Enforce state laws and regulations governing business to protect consumers
- Lower the burdens of regulation for business owners
- Encourage a competitive environment Some small business owners will need a license from the DIFP’s Division of Professional Registration, which currently licenses more than 400,000 individuals. Examples include: accountants, barbers, cosmetologists, doctors, massage therapists, nurses, real estate brokers and tattoo artists.
