The District is a live/work/play neighborhood that sparks the creative, the eclectic and the local in Columbia, Missouri. We’re a constantly adapting community of people, with tradition blending harmoniously with high tech and the latest trends in fashion, food and the arts. The District is bounded by three colleges and encompasses 50 square blocks, more than 300 individual properties, over 5000 residences, and over 600 businesses, non-profits and government entities.

The Columbia Special Business District is dedicated to increasing the attractiveness and vitality of downtown Columbia, Missouri, through economic development, business recruitment, marketing and promotions and more.

The mission of the Columbia Special Business District is to:

1. Protect and strengthen the business, cultural and entertainment environments in The District.
2. Provide services to those who shop, play and work in The District.
3. Serve as the voice of businesses and property owners in The District with local and state entities.
4. Support and coordinate long-term planning for The District.
