The program currently has seven components or focus areas, including Entrepreneurship. The YES Entrepreneurship Component (YEC) teens work in project-based learning communities to create products, businesses, and to educate and empower others to do the same.

About

As a part of the Saint Louis Science Center’s mission, “To ignite and sustain lifelong science and technology learning”, the YES (Youth Exploring Science) Program was founded to encourage and help teens recognize their potential in STEAM fields.

YES prepares high school students in the St. Louis area for careers in STEAM fields by nourishing their desire to ask questions and helping them learn how to seek answers through science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.

The program currently has seven components, including Aerospace, Agri-Science, Cyber Security, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Integrative Medicine and Well-Being, and Media Production.

The YES Entrepreneurship Component (YEC) teens work in project-based learning communities to create products, businesses, and to educate and empower others to do the same. Teens create and sell products and will finish out the year with a solid business plan designed to showcase STEAM content. Teens hone their skills in all domains of entrepreneurship and become ready to be 21st century learners and employees.

Annually, YES entrepreneurs are vendors at multiple showcases and expos, compete in multiple competitions, present their ideas and prototypes at Venture Café St. Louis, serve as exhibitors at the Midwest Digital Marketing Conference (MDMC), and engage with a multitude of business owners and mentors.
