Business Incubators in Missouri

Business incubators help new and startup companies launch and grow by providing space and services. Because they often house more than one startup at a time, they provide opportunities to share resources and learn from other businesses.

Incubators, like accelerators, often have a competitive interview process that allows them to determine whether a startup is a good fit for their services. However, unlike an accelerator, graduation is not fixed in a short span of three to sixth months. Incubators will often assess the performance and progress of their client companies to ensure that they are reaching desired milestones. And so, graduation, or an exit from an incubator, can either be based upon the achievement of those goals or a stipulated period of time.

Typically, those client startups will remain in an incubator for one to three years, but this may differ from incubator to incubator, based on a number of factors, such as type of industry, the entrepreneur’s knowledge and skill set levels, access to resources, geographic location, etc. To remain sustainable, incubators often charge program fees or membership dues.

Forbes has even declared incubators and other entrepreneurial hubs as more vital to the success of a startup than business school. Yet, many are unaware of the indispensable resources offered by these entrepreneurship centers or even which model would best suit their startup or community.
