This workshop exposes participants to the Business Model Canvas (BMC) which is a high-level tool for developing a new business concept. The BMC requires less detail than a formal business plan while forcing entrepreneurs to consider many of the same issues in a business plan. The BMC is a great device for later developing a detailed business plan needed when applying for startup funding.

Attendees Will Learn…

How to determine whether their product or service is desirable, feasible, and viable for different customer segments.
How to identify the key activities they must perform to deliver their product or service, what resources are needed to perform those activities, and what key partners are critical to their business model.
What revenue and cost elements determine whether their business idea is viable – can they deliver their product or service at a profit.
How to use this tool to bring those components together to form the value proposition.
Presenter Bio: David Vail retired from the US Air Force after 26 years of service. He went back to school completing an Executive MBA program while operating his own business building customized computer accounting systems for small businesses. He also consulted with large international corporations such as 3M, Air Canada, and Monsanto before it was acquired by Bayer AG. He returned to the Department of Defense as a civilian where for 14 years, he managed IT projects and contracts supporting military operations.

David retired a second time in 2016, and is currently actively involved in 3 non-profit organizations.
