Building Intercultural Skills: Japanese Business Culture

December 11, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm CST

$30

Japan has grown to be one of the Kansas City region’s top international partners. With the new Panasonic plant locating in DeSoto, Kan., we anticipate more regional engagement with Japanese companies and their suppliers. Understanding key foundational economic and cultural knowledge can facilitate transnational and intercultural relationship building that directly impacts you, your business and the region’s economy. Please join us:

The workshop, led by the Center for East Asian Studies at the University of Kansas, will situate the Kansas City region in the context of the Japanese American economic relationship. As an attendee, you will also gain a better understanding of Japanese cultural norms related to respect, hierarchy, and hospitality and start acquiring a cultural toolkit that will help you navigate social interactions and develop meaningful and respectful relationships.

Please stay for a guided “Lunch and Learn” about Japanese etiquette.
