  • The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) develops and employs fully capable Special Operations Forces to conduct global special operations as an integrated joint, combined, and interagency force.nbsp;nbsp; USSOCOM includes renowned units such as the Armyrsquo;s Green Berets and Rangers, the Navyrsquo;s SEALs, the Air Forcersquo;s Air Commandos, the Marine Raiders, and other Special Operations Forces.
  • SOFWERX works with USSOCOM to help solve challenging Warfighter problems through collaboration, ideation, events, and rapid prototyping.
  • USSOCOM and SOFWERX are eager to engage with Missouri and Kansas technology entrepreneurs to accelerate the development, procurement, and integration ofnbsp;highly innovativenbsp;technologies, ready-to-commercialize or finished products, or services to address gaps in future Special Operations Forces missions and operating environments.nbsp;nbsp;USSOCOM offers funding to small business technology companies through lucrative Small Business Innovation (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grants.nbsp; They will present information on their funding and development programs and answer entrepreneursrsquo; questions.nbsp; If you are a technology entrepreneur and are interested in learning more about developing and commercializing highly innovative technologies, products, or services for USSOCOM, then please join us.

  • Attendees at the morning session are invited to tour the new UMKC Innovation Studio, a hub for students, faculty, and the Kansas City community to discuss, design, build and innovate.nbsp; The studio includes $3 million worth of fabrication, prototyping, 3D printing, nbsp;high-performance computing and data analytics, and nbsp;augmented, virtual and mixed reality equipment and software, and much more!nbsp; Tour guides will be available to describe the Studiorsquo;s capabilities and answer attendeesrsquo; questions about how they can use the facilities and services.

Who can qualify for the grants?

  • USSOCOM is seekingnbsp;highly innovativenbsp;technologies, ready-to-commercialize or finished products, or services in these areas of interest:
    • Market Research and Creative Development
      • Innovative methods and new capabilities for market research
      • Creative technology products in the form of videos, computer graphics, storyboards, visual art and other media to facilitate newcomer onboarding, storytelling, leadership engagement, and better‐informed decision‐making.
    • Design Development and Systems Engineering
      • Innovative technologies, products, or services that aid in design development capabilities (including, but not limited to software development best practices, experimentation, and user experience trials) or systems engineering rigor (interface definition, requirement derivation, system architecture), or both.nbsp;nbsp;
    • Multi-domain Test and Evaluation
      • Novel and agile methods of multi‐domain test and evaluation, including innovative technologies or services that aid in aviation experimentation, cyber/Internet of Things evaluation (to include penetration testing), maritime/undersea evaluation, communications testing, and electromagnetic warfare analyses.
    • Rapid Prototyping/Low Rate Production
      • Innovative technologies, products, or services that aid in rapidly prototyping or manufacturing small lots of experimental electronics, chipsets, batteries, and other multi‐material experimental.
