Workforce Recruitment and Retention Webinar Series: Session 3 - Community Efforts to Attract and Retain Workers

Wednesday, March 10 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm • Organized By Missouri SBDC at State Fair Community College
Online Event

About

In spite of the current economic challenges, attracting and retaining workers remains on ongoing concern for many businesses, particularly those located in more rural locations. This three-part series will encourage private and public sector leaders to think more strategically about how they can recruit and retain workers within their businesses, or the community at large. Drs. Mark White and Robert Russell from MU Extension’s Labor and Workforce Development Program will develop and deliver this series of online sessions.

Session 3: Community efforts to attract and retain workers The final session will focus on how communities can take steps to strengthen worker attraction and retention. This session will identify ways in which community leaders, employers and higher education can collaborate to strengthen their local workforce. These session will touch on a variety of subjects including:

  • Expanding student opportunities for career exploration and work-based learning,
  • More effectively promoting job opportunities within the community, and
  • Addressing the broader quality of life considerations that may affect longer-term efforts to grow the region and its workforce

This intent of this session will be to help public and private sector leaders brainstorm about ideas for future action.
