Training adds value to people. This University of Missouri Extension leadership program provides that value and training in a local context. Participants in Leadership Republic can grow their network, discover the strengths and threats in their community, and learn to lead themselves, in their neighborhood and in their community.
Leadership Republic beings in April with monthly meetings that run March to December. Classes meet at Chamber office / board room in Republic. Classes are 8:30 a.m. to 11:30. We then dismiss to the Chamber lunch meeting at the community center. Leadership Republic class members pay for lunch (discounted at $10 per person) and enjoy networking and a guest speaker. Special speakers will be jointly arranged by Chamber and MU Extension.
Tentative meeting dates are same as chamber meeting EXCEPT when meeting date conflicts with an election. In those cases the class date is moved and the chamber meeting is optional.
Class projects will be done on “National Good Neighbor Day” which is Sept. 26, 2020. Leadership Republic will have an enrollment cost of $50 per person and the monthly lunch cost of $10 per person is payable at the Chamber office or Recreation Center each month.
Making this a community success depends on area employers. It is important for local companies, the city, the school and banks to have an employee in this program. People working in Springfield need to ask their employees to support this effort. Businesses can support their employees development by giving them one half day a month to attend Leadership Republic.
Then also, there are people here in Republic during the day, farmers and retirees even, that could easily attend during the day and could benefit from the experience.
