Learn about key aspects of US and international patent laws, particularly (a) legal requirements for inventorship in the US, (b) the rights and responsibilities of sole and joint inventors; (c) obligations by inventors, patent practitioners, technology transfer professionals, assignees, licensees, and investors to be transparent in their communications with patent offices; (d) how the scope of pending and issued claims affect the “perceived value” of a portfolio of patent documents; (e) practice tips for preparing and prosecuting applications that will enhance their value to parties holding an interest in a patented technologies, and (f) ways to avoid disputes over inventorship that can jeopardize the validity and perceived value of claims in issued patents.  Verne A. Luckow, Ph.D., J.D., is a registered patent attorney with over 40 years of experience in academic, corporate, and private law firm environments, counseling clients at public and private institutions with strong interests in the life sciences, particularly intellectual property, technology transfer, and regulatory issues affecting complex products and services.
