Challenges & Triumphs of Small Business: Transitioning from Corporate to Entrepreneur through Servant Leadership

The Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Veterans Business Resource Center (VBRC) are pleased to present a free webinar series for veterans and members of the military community on topics of interest to small business owners. Much of the information is relevant to all small businesses but will also cover items of interest specific to veteran-owned small businesses. In his book, Prepare for Leadership: From Midwest Farm Boy to Times Square, Nile shares his personal journey of business success and lessons learned through times of struggle. After rising from manager trainee to become one of the youngest top officers of Ralston Purina at age 38, Nile was fifty-five and unemployed following a company buyout. Within ten years of that low mark in his career he had built a company Renewable Energy Group® ( surpassing his former iconic employer in annual earnings and played a lead role in the creation of the biodiesel industry. He then directed the nascent industry from 3 million gallons of biodiesel production a year to over a billion gallons annually in just over a decade. Nile's story of one man's impact on American industry is not just impressive and inspiring, but historic. But his story did not stop there. This seminar is a conversation about transitioning from one career to another and the challenges an entrepreneur might experience on their way to success. Nile will offer a completely candid and inspiring talk and answer your questions as you move through or consider entrepreneurship.
