This Month: Classes and Events to Grow Your Missouri Business

Summer is in full swing and while we know vacation may be top of mind, entrepreneurs and business owners all over Missouri are heads down and working hard. There are ample business resources out there (500+ in our network!) that are ready to help you reach your next milestone, so make sure the beach you’re on or the lake you’re coving has Wi-Fi to access some of the information you’ll need to start or grow your business.

July 16, 2019: Rural Strong: Powering Rural Small Businesses, Neosho, Missouri

This event is designed to inform entrepreneurs, small business owners and community organizations about the federal lending programs and resources powered by the U.S. Small Business Association, U.S. Department of Agriculture and Missouri Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Missouri Southern State University (MSSU).

July 17, 2019: Pitching to Investors, Statewide

Learn about what investors need to know and want to see before making an investment in a startup.This class is hosted by the Missouri Small Business and Technology Development Center at UMKC and will be led by Michele Weigand, managing partner of Focused Perspective. And now, thanks to the powers of the internet, entrepreneurs from across the state can tune into the class live via web. Register and attend online by emailing [email protected].

July 19, 2019: Healthcare Hackathon 2019, Cape Girardeau, Missouri

The Marquette Tech District and Saint Francis Healthcare System will bring together developers, designers, clinicians, entrepreneurs and researchers to solve community-wide problems in health care. Participants across youth, collegiate and professional industries will work in teams to solve these problems by building software solutions over the course of an entire weekend. There will be $50,000 in cash prizes awarded to the top teams.

July 23, 2019: ELEVATIONLAB NEW VENTURE, Statewide

Do you dream of owning your own business? Are you ready for a realistic perspective on whether or not people really want to buy what you want to sell? NEW VENTURE, an accelerated program of the Missouri SBDC and ELEVATIONLAB™, helps aspiring entrepreneurs look at all aspects of their business idea, exploring the feasibility of their new venture and learning how to develop a viable business. This business creation program is fast-paced, interactive, fun and energizing.

After being available in one location initially, this classroom experience has expanded to every inch of the state. There is a NEW OPPORTUNITY for dislocated workers statewide to participate in this five-week intensive course. Through live broadcast technology, you can take part in class from your local SBDC and interact with the in-person students in Kansas City. July 25, 2019: Women Business Owner Mastermind Exchange, Columbia, Missouri

Learn about the power of mastermind groups as you experience this confidential, supportive space for women to come together and discuss challenges, ideas and success stories in Columbia. The Missouri Women’s Business Center always welcomes first timers!

July, 25, 2019: Landing Enterprise Clients with Scott Dalenburg, Springfield, Missouri

For startups and small businesses, landing the right enterprise client can change everything. Join efactory to hear from SRC Holdings Executive Vice President Scott Dalenberg as he shares his insights into what enterprise clients are looking for when it comes to working with startups and small businesses.

July 30, 2019: IdeaBounce, St. Louis, Missouri

As part of JPMorgan Chase’s Ascend 2020 program, the Skandalaris Center has an opportunity for minority and female entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas and network with other business owners and community members. There will be a chance to win a $200 cash prize. This is an opportunity to pitch your idea (no matter how “half-baked”), get feedback on it and make connections. Inventors, founders and startups from all across the St. Louis region, and those interested in supporting them, are invited to attend.

July 30, 2019: Women in Business: Connect, Rolla, Missouri

Stop by with your business cards to network with fellow women in business at this Missouri SBDC at MSSU hosted event. There is no timeframe on staying or going and it is free to the public, so bring your business ideas, plans, and collaboration minds to play.
