On November 16, nearly 150 people attended the St. Charles County Demo Day sponsored by the EDC Business and Community Partners.  Dozens of startups applied for the competition and were whittled down to the top most exciting startups in the region.

These four finalists competed for cash prizes and in-kind services in front of a panel of business leaders and entrepreneurs.

  • Babyation  - Provides families with new and innovative products that meet their needs and help them achieve their goals
  • DSquared  - Creates leading consumer brands and online real estate
  • WorthyNest  - Focuses on the intersection of faith, family and finance
  • AirZaar - Provides a suite of tools that scale commercial drone projects of all sizes.

Each made a strong presentation, and were all strong competitors.

Babyation and DSquared won first ($10,000) and second-place ($5,000) prizes and walked away with really big checks, but it’s safe to say that everyone who participated was a winner. Each startup received a cash prize based on their ability to answer specific questions related to their strategy and knowledge of their market.

“Startups serving everything from lactating mothers to the mining industry attended the St. Charles County Demo Day with a belief the future is bright, and St. Charles County is the place to start building their company,” said EDC President and CEO Greg Prestemon. “And it’s also why this county is the best place in the nation for any entrepreneur to start his or her business.”
