TenantLoop: Removing the Friction in Tenant-Property Manager Relationships

 

Jeff Dinter, entrepreneur and CEO of St. Louis based startup TenantLoop

Tenant Jeff Dinter of St. Louis was frustrated with the lack of communication and slow response between his property manager and the service providers for their living unit. “There’s a lot of phone tag, delayed responses, overlooked needs and even payment issues that occur between tenants and property managers,” says Jeff, co-founder of TenantLoop.

With his entrepreneurial background, Jeff wanted to introduce a mobile solution, but needed a partner with a technical background to bring his idea to life. His search led him to Jimmy Lien who had the desired experience, but who also encountered similar problems as a property owner.

Jeff and Jimmy entered the St. Louis startup ecosystem, including OPO Startups in St. Charles, and launched TenantLoop in August 2015. After several months of market testing, Jeff decided to quit his consultancy job to dedicate himself full-time to TenantLoop. “Looking back, I should have quit sooner, but it wasn’t the best financial decision at the time.”

The extra research permitted him to validate his idea and the opportunity. “Customer acquisition and product development are the biggest challenge for startups. It takes a lot of hustle, networking and making our own luck that I otherwise wouldn’t have had, but it has opened doors for us.”

The results were a fully functioning product they were able to deliver to beta testers. Positive feedback has proven the need for his product and has made his vision a reality. “There has been a lot of proving and disproving my hypotheses, but I like being the underdog. It motivates me to keep learning from our beta testers and improving the product.”

Jeff advises other entrepreneurs to work hard and keep going. “Stay attached to the problem you are trying to solve, but be flexible on how you get there.”

The TenantLoop team plans to finish up beta testing through 2016 with a full product launch in 2017.
