Missouri 'No Tax Due' Statements Available Online
A business that makes retail sales must obtain a statement from the Department of Revenue stating no tax is due for state withholding tax and state sales tax before a city, county or state agency will issue or renew any licenses required for conducting business where goods are sold at retail.
A business may obtain a no tax due online if it:
- Has a valid registration with the Missouri Department of Revenue;
- Makes sales at retail in Missouri; and
- Has no sales or withholding tax delinquencies.
Please note, you will need your Missouri sales tax ID ( the 8 digit number issued to you by the Missouri Department of Revenue to file your business taxes and is included on your sales tax license) and tax filing PIN (a 4 digit number located on the cover of your voucher booklet or return).
If a city, county or state agency has enrolled with the Missouri Department of Revenue, they will be able to determine if a business has "no tax due" without requiring a piece of paper to be issued by the Department of Revenue.
If there is an issue with the business' account and a no tax due cannot be issued, the system will present a message that the business must contact the Department of Revenue to obtain one.
