High level success with low pressure process

Mineral Area Pro Wash became a reality in early 2006. Hard work and a desire to build a business to pass to their two wonderful kids has been the driving force for owners Curtis and Melinda Turner.

MAPW, located in Bonne Terre, Mo., is a fully-insured, exterior cleaning contractor serving the Mineral Area region.  It offers power washing services, as well as roof, gutter and window cleaning.  What makes MAPW different from other pressure washing businesses is the type of pressure used.  Turner said that his staff only uses low-pressure machines with industrial grade cleaners.  For the customer, low-pressure washing kills mold and fungus instead of just blowing it into the air and it also keeps water from being pushed up under the vinyl siding; thus extending the life of the structure.

Turner is a 2006 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University’s Operation Jump-Start small business training course, and he attributes the success of MAPW to the essential business planning and preparation skills he learned.  He believes his company would still be in its infancy stages were it not for the support of the class instructor and the importance placed on writing a business plan.

The Southeast Missouri State University Innovation Center honored MAPW and six other businesses during National Entrepreneurship Week in February of 2009The distinguished businesses are part of a larger group of about 240 businesses that have been created or expanded through the Innovation Center’s nationally recognized, award-winning small business training programs, Operation Bootstrap and Operation Jump-Start.
