General Description
The Center for Emerging Technologies (CET) has 92,000 SF of incubator/accelerator facilities that includes wet labs and other specialized spaces as well as share business and research facilities and equipment. CET has demonstrated success in creating and developing biomedical (biotech, medical instruments and devices) and other advanced technology companies from inception to high growth stage, with the first IPO in 2004. Tenant companies have attracted $875 million in capital to the region, with an economic impact of $1.2 billion. CET was recognized by the National Business Incubation Association (NBIA) as one of the top ten incubators in the country and received an award for Excellence in Tech-led Economic Development from EDA. CET staff assists companies with business and technology development as well as attraction of capital. Extensive education and training sessions are presented on the premises focused on issues pertinent to life science entrepreneurs.
Services Provided
Business needs – business plan development, market research, referrals to professionals for assistance with business, marketing, regulatory issues, intellectual property and strategic alliances.
Technology needs – connections to university researchers, access to federal lab researchers and technology, assistance with Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and other federal research grants.
Financing needs – access to local and out-of-town venture capital and angel investors, and obtaining state tax credits.
